Credit monitoring web portal opens for Eastern Health customers following health cyberattack in NL
ST. JOHN’S, NL — Credit monitoring and identity theft protection services are now available on an Equifax Canada web portal for patients who have received healthcare services from Eastern Health.
The services are offered after the personal information of thousands of patients was compromised in a cyberattack on the province’s health care system last fall.
Eastern Health said in a press release that monitoring services are available at all times to anyone who has received health care services from the health authority and will be offered free of charge for a period of two years from the date of release. registration date.
The web portal is only available to residents of Newfoundland and Labrador.
Anyone who registered as a current or former Eastern Health customer or employee does not need to register again.
Customers can visit the Equifax website to receive an activation code by email before December 31.
Once customers have obtained the code through the portal or by calling the provincial toll-free line, they can go to Equifax’s registration website to complete registration.
Customers who cannot access the online registration form can call Equifax’s dedicated customer support line at 1-866-547-2429 to activate their code and complete the registration process.
