Janet Duffy-Anderson appointed Scientific Director of the Gulf of Maine Research Institute
The Gulf of Maine Research Institute has hired Janet Duffy Anderson as the new scientific director. Duffy-Anderson is trained as a fisheries research biologist and marine ecosystem ecologist. She previously worked at the Alaska Fisheries Science Center of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
Mission Broadband announced the recent hiring of Jeffrey Rogers as director of strategic initiatives. Rogers, from Westbrook, joins the company from Covetrus, where he has held leadership roles in analytics, strategic accounts, growth initiatives and business operations.
Northern Light Primary Care in Hampden has hired Dr Alisa Cleary to practice. Cleary specializes in family medicine and addiction medicine.
Internet service provider Otelco has hired several employees at its New Gloucester office. Diane Snow joined the company as Director of Service Delivery. Snow, of Scarborough, has 22 years of experience in the telecommunications industry. Tracy Belanger was hired as the external plant scheduling coordinator. BÃ©langer, of Brunswick, has worked for the past two decades at Consolidated Communications as a dispatch supervisor.
Matthew Kasper was hired by Otelco as residential sales manager. Kasper, of Scarborough, brings 15 years of experience to US Cellular as Director of Sales. Tyler Rocheleau joined the company as a sales support representative. Rocheleau, from Raymond, brings sales experience. Bernard Roderick was hired as a sales account manager. Roderick, of Oakland, previously worked at FairPoint Communications as an account executive and manager.
Guillaume Lester was hired by Otelco as a Level 2 Outdoor Plant Technician in their Gray office. Lester, from Biddeford, brings 15 years of experience as a field technician and maintenance technician for Spectrum. Darren brawn joined the company’s Bangor office as a Technical Support Technician. Brawn, from Corrina, previously worked as a service technician at US Cellular. Emilie Valli was hired as a Talent Acquisition Specialist in Bangor. Valli lives in Knox and previously worked at Unity College.
Saco & Biddeford Savings Institution announced several new hires. Jeff Rieck joined as vice president, responsible for compliance. Stephanie Emery has joined its Biddeford branch as Head of Customer Relations. Mikhaela Helm was hired as an assistant director of customer service at its operations center. Andrew Mockler was hired as a marketing agent. Christophe wieninger was hired as a Client Relations Officer at its Scarborough branch.
AWARDS AND RECOGNITION
Merita McKenzie, a physical education teacher and coach at Lyseth Elementary School, was honored by the Maine Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance with its Elementary Physical Education Teacher Award from the ‘year. McKenzie has dedicated his life to helping Portland’s children get active and develop healthy lifestyles.
Tom cole of Better Homes and Gardens The Masiello Group of Brunswick received the Real Estate Agent of the Year award. Cole, a real estate agent for over 21 years, was the former president of the Maine Association of Realtors. He currently serves on the board of directors of the association and Maine Real Estate Information System, Inc.

The University of New England Board of Trustees elected the following new members of the Board of Trustees:
Jim brady is a former Olympic and America’s Cup navigator turned real estate developer. Brady is president and director of Fathom Companies in Portland.
Justin chair brings experience in business, journalism and politics. Schair is co-founder of the companies Casco Passage and partner of Matrix Private Capital Group.
Jean Ginn Marvin is a former Maine House representative and Cape Elizabeth city councilor. Marvin is the innkeeper and co-owner of the Nonantum Resort in Kennebunkport.
Ford Reiche is co-founder and Managing Director of Safe Handling Inc. in Auburn. He retired in 2009. He was recognized as Maine Small Business Person of the Year and Maine Large Business Leader of the Year.
Brock Haverly-Johndro is a student at the School of Pharmacy at the University of New England. A member of the 2022 class, he was appointed student administrator representing the Portland campus.
Kaitlyn oddity, a major in health, wellness and professional studies in the class of 2022, has been appointed student advisor representing the Biddeford campus.
