Online Fundraiser for Killed Officer Surpasses Target | State

Murder of Police Officer Tyler Timmins, 36, who died Tuesday after being shot at a station -Speedway service at Pontoon Beach. As Timmins walked towards a vehicle he suspected had been stolen, a man started shooting him.

PONTOON BEACH – An online fundraiser for the family of a slain Pontoon Beach police officer exceeded its goal in less than a day.

On Tuesday morning, Pontoon Beach Police Officer Tyler Timmins was checking a stolen car outside the Speedway gas station on Illinois 111 at Chain of Rocks Road in Pontoon Beach when he was shot and killed by an occupant of the vehicle.

He was airlifted to a hospital in Saint-Louis, where he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased. The suspect, who has not been named, was taken into custody at the scene.

Timmins, 36, joined the Pontoon Beach Police Department in April 2020. During his 14-year career, he also served with the Roxana, Hartford and Worden Police Departments.

On Tuesday, Brittany Wooley hosted a GoFundMe page on the internet to benefit Timmins wife Linsey and daughter Chloe. As of Wednesday morning, the site had surpassed its goal of $ 10,000.

“Our community is heartbroken over the death of Agent Timmins,” Wooley said. “Tyler wasn’t just a cop, he was also a trusted husband, father, son, brother and friend.

“Tyler made it clear that his family was everything to him,” Wooley said in his post. “He spent all of his free time watching Chloe in her sports activities, playing softball with his friends and fellow officers, and spending time with his wife and family.

“He was always known as the cool guy, always smiling, laughing and bringing positive energy wherever he went.”
